You have a duty to contact the licensing authority when ________.

A you change your vehicle

The licensing authority need to keep their records up to date. They send out a reminder when a vehicle's excise licence (road tax) is due for renewal. To do this they need to know the name and address of the registered keeper. Every vehicle in the country is registered, so it’s possible to trace its history.

If you live in the UK and have recently changed your vehicle, it is important to contact the licensing authority as soon as possible. This is because there are certain legal requirements that must be met when changing vehicles, and failure to do so can result in fines or other penalties.

The first step you should take when changing your vehicle is to inform the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). You will need to provide them with details of both your old car and new one. This includes information such as make/model, engine size, colour etc., along with proof of ownership for each vehicle. Once these details have been provided they will then issue a V5C registration certificate for the new car which needs to be kept safe at all times – this document acts like an ‘ownership passport’ for your motorised transport!

It’s also important that you notify insurance companies about any changes made too; if not done promptly this could leave yourself open financially if something were happen while driving on public roads without adequate cover in place. Furthermore, depending on what type of change has occurred – i.e., from petrol/diesel cars into electric ones - may require additional paperwork being completed by DVLA before being able move forward legally.

Finally, once everything has been taken care of, don't forget to update road tax payments accordingly; failure to do so can lead to hefty fines!
