Based on the official Theory Test!

We’ve tried our best to make our questions as similar as possible to the real theory test in order to help you get the best preparation before combating the actual test.

Detailed explanation

We’re proud that our website is one of a few platforms giving the most detailed explanations after each question.

You really be able to understand why it’s wrong and how to make it correct, that definitely helps you remember the knowledge more easily!

Easy & friendly to use and study!

Unlike a boring book full of theory, our Driving theory practice tests are designed as a game that helps you enjoy the test and make it more interesting to study!

The Driving Theory Test is the first step in becoming a full UK driving license holder.

It’s really important to prepare for your theory test because there’s a lot to learn about the rules of the road. The better prepared you are, the more likely you are to pass on the first go, which will save you the amount of time and money that retaking the test will cost.

The Theory Test is taken on a computer at an official DVSA test center and consists of two individual tests which must both be taken on the same day. The first one is a multiple-choice test based on the rules of the road, as set by the DVSA, and the second is a Hazard Perception Test.

If you are wondering what do you need to study for the driving theory test, here is the answer:

Preparing for the Multiple-choice questions test

The multiple-choice test covers the below topics:

  • alertness
  • attitude
  • safety and your vehicle
  • safety margins
  • hazard awareness
  • vulnerable road users
  • other types of vehicle
  • vehicle handling
  • highway code signs
  • rules of the road
  • motorway rules
  • essential documents
  • incidents, accidents, and emergencies
  • vehicle loading.

Your theory test questions will be picked at random, so you need to be confident answering ANY of the questions in the DSA Theory Test Handbook - that’s around 1000 possible questions!

We all can see it’s so hard to pass right the first go without a proper practice plan due to the huge amount of knowledge.

So, visit our Driving theory practice tests for more comprehensive practice tests!

Preparing for the Hazard Perception test

When you’ve made it through the multiple-choice questions you’ll move on to the hazard perception test.

This part of the test checks you can recognize and respond to hazards that could happen while you’re driving. Being out on the road with your instructor will help you prepare for this part.

In the test, you’ll see 19 film clips, each shown from a driver’s point of view. You’ll need to spot the developing hazard in each film: this is something that might need you, as the driver, to take some action such as changing speed or direction. For example, a car pulling into the side of the road ahead of you is a developing hazard because you’ll need to slow down and maneuver around it.

Now, you know how to learn driving theory. It’s time to practice! Practice is always important in the way of preparing for any tests. The driving Theory Test is not an exemption. So make sure that you've had careful preparation and be totally confident before taking the real test.

We have to say our Driving theory practice tests include a wide range of practice tests and topics that are based on the real theory test and definitely helpful for you! So, make sure to visit for more information!

What is the Theory test pass mark?

The Theory Test pass mark is 86%, so you'll need to answer 43 out of 50 multiple choice questions correctly and 44 of 75 on the hazard perception test to pass. The questions cover topics that include alertness, attitude, safety, road signs, and much more.

How much does it cost to take a theory test in the UK?
