How to drive safely on a motorway?
On a motorway, the maximum speed limit is 70 mph. Given the high speeds that can be attained on a motorway, it is crucial that you attempt to foresee what will happen far ahead of your car. Because of the speed, you will have less time to respond in an emergency.
Always maintain a safe distance behind the car in front of you, ideally two seconds on a dry day. If you can see brake lights ahead, ease off the accelerator. Check your mirrors frequently to get a clear picture of what is approaching from behind you.
