As a driver why should you be more careful where trams operate?

A Because they cannot steer to avoid you.

You should take extra care when you first encounter trams. You will have to get used to dealing with a different traffic system. Be aware that they can accelerate and travel very quickly and that they cannot change direction to avoid obstructions.

Related Information

As a driver, it is important to take extra care when encountering trams. The traffic system in which they operate can be very different from other vehicles on the road and requires special attention. Firstly, it is essential to understand that trams have the ability to accelerate quickly and travel at high speeds; this means that drivers should always remain alert as sudden changes of direction could occur without warning. Secondly, due to their large size and inability to change direction easily or stop suddenly if an obstruction appears ahead of them; drivers must always keep a safe distance between themselves and any tram they are sharing the road with. Finally, understanding how tram signals work can also help ensure safety on roads where these vehicles are present; for example knowing when one has priority over another or whether two will pass each other safely at certain points along their route can prevent potential accidents occurring due too miscommunication between both parties involved in such situations.

In conclusion, being aware of all aspects surrounding trams including their speed capabilities, size limitations as well as signal systems used by operators will enable drivers to feel more comfortable driving around these unique forms of transport. By doing so, not only would you increase your own safety but those travelling aboard them too.

Brilliant for the multiple choice bit of the theory. Never looked at the highway code, just went through all of the practice questions in this (free version) over a few hours and passed my test 48/50.
