Question:

You are following a large lorry on a wet road. Spray makes it difficult to see. You should _________.

A Drop back until you can see better.
explanation

Large vehicles may throw up a lot of spray when the roads are wet. This will make it difficult for you to see ahead. Dropping back further will move you out of the spray and allow you to see further, and increase your separation distance. It takes longer to stop when the roads are wet and you need to allow more room. Don’t follow the vehicle in front too closely, or overtake unless you can see and are sure that the way ahead is clear.

Related Information

Large vehicles such as trucks and buses can throw up a lot of spray when the roads are wet, which can make it difficult for drivers to see ahead. This is why it is important to maintain adequate separation distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. Dropping back further will move you out of the spray, allowing for better visibility and increased safety margins. Additionally, braking distances increase significantly on wet roads so extra caution should be taken when driving behind large vehicles or attempting to overtake them; always ensure that there is enough room ahead before making any manoeuvres.

It’s also important not to follow too closely behind a large vehicle even if conditions are dry; this gives more time for reaction in case something unexpected happens suddenly on the road ahead or if they have sudden brake failure etc., thus reducing your chances of being involved in an accident due to lack of space/time available for evasive action. Furthermore, overtaking should only ever be attempted if there’s sufficient vision beyond what's immediately visible from your current position i.e., no blind corners or dips where other traffic may emerge unexpectedly - otherwise wait until it's safe before proceeding with caution!

In summary, large vehicles may throw up lots off water-spray during rainy weather, which reduces visibility significantly – therefore, maintaining adequate separation distance between yourself & them at all times (especially when braking) is essential & never attempt overtakes unless absolutely sure that way forward has been thoroughly checked first! Following these simple tips will help keep everyone safe during their journeys regardless of how bad weather gets around us!

Brilliant for the multiple choice bit of the theory. Never looked at the highway code, just went through all of the practice questions in this (free version) over a few hours and passed my test 48/50.
