Don't panic if you have to make an emergency stop. It's crucial that you do the emergency stop right away rather than checking your mirror as normal. Take your foot off the accelerator quickly, STAMP on your brake, place both hands on the steering wheel to keep the car straight, and firmly grip to brace yourself. Press down the clutch immediately prior to stopping. Once the vehicle has come to a complete stop, keep the clutch and brake down, put on the handbrake and move the gear stick into neutral.
